Ukrainian presidential adviser Mychajlo Podoljak writes on social media that Prigozhin’s supposed death should be seen as a warning from President Vladimir Putin.
“The elimination of Prigozhin and Wagner’s leadership two months after the coup attempt is a signal from Putin to Russia’s elites ahead of the 2024 elections. ‘Warning! Disloyalty equals death,'” writes Podoljak.
The White House in the United States has also commented on the incident.
“The disastrous war in Ukraine has led to a private army marching on Moscow, and now — it seems — to this,” spokeswoman Adrienne Watson said in a statement.
She also says that “no one should be surprised” if Prigozhin’s death is confirmed.
