The researcher who wrote the Sweden Democrats’ white paper on the birth of the party has himself been a member of the Sweden Democrats, reveals The Express.
The author Tony Gustafsson has been described by the party leadership as an independent researcher. He has a background as a historian of ideas at Uppsala University.
According to MP Martin Kinnunen (SD), who is responsible for the project, the party has sought an independent person who has not been involved in the party and who has not been politically involved at all.
Now Expressen reveals that Tony Gustafsson became a member of SD in 2017. According to the newspaper, he has been in contact with key party representatives about his membership.
Tony Gustafsson himself does not want to comment on the matter.
– It is a choice I have made not to let ideological beliefs, political positions or possible memberships become part of this discussion, so to speak, he tells the newspaper.
