The world is fixated on the news coming from the Middle East. Israel’s ongoing bombardments on civilians in Gaza spurred Iran into action. Iran sent a message to Israel through the United Nations (UN), stating that “if the attacks on Gaza continue, it will have to intervene.”
CALL FROM IRAN TO HELP THE RESCUE OF HOSTAGES
According to the news of the US news site Axios, based on two unnamed diplomatic sources, Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Emir Abdullahiyan conveyed his country’s message during his meeting with UN Middle East Peace Process Special Coordinator Tor Wennesland in Beirut today.
Wennesland asked Abdullahiyan to help prevent the conflict in Gaza and Israel from spreading to the region.
According to those sources, Abdullahian also said that Iran does not want the conflict to turn into a regional war and that it can help release Israelis held hostage by Hamas in Gaza.
“WE WILL HAVE TO RESPOND”
On the other hand, Abdullahiyan emphasized that his country has “red lines” and conveyed to the UN official that if Israel’s attacks continue and especially if a land attack is launched against Gaza, Iran will have to respond.
UN Special Coordinator Wennesland also contacted Israeli officials, especially Israeli National Security Advisor Tzachi Hanegbi, and conveyed Iran’s message to the Tel Aviv administration.
In its written statement, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Abdullahiyan had a meeting with UN Middle East Peace Process Special Coordinator Tor Wennesland at the Iranian Embassy in Beirut today.
Abdullahiyan, who met with Lebanese Hezbollah Secretary General Hasan Nasrallah as well as senior officials of the Palestinian resistance groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad, as part of his contacts in Beirut, called on Israel to immediately stop the attacks on Gaza and said “the resistance front’s hand is on the alert.” ” he said.
