While searching for the lost gold earrings they were greatly

A Norwegian family searching for a lost earring found a thousand-year-old Viking relic! The Aasvik family, living on the island of Jomfruland off the southern coast of Norway, started excavation work using a detector for lost gold earrings.

VIKING RUINS AT LEAST A THOUSAND YEARS OLD

Although the Aasvik family could not find the earring, they found remains that were at least a thousand years old. The Norwegian family unearthed remains that resembled a bowl-shaped buckle and a Viking-era funerary piece. Experts state that the artifacts may have been used in the funeral of a woman on the island of Jomfruland in the 9th century. Another expert stated that the relic found was a buckle dating back to 780 and 850.

“FIRST SAFE FIND”

In the post made by Vestfold Cultural Heritage and Telemark Provincial Council on their social media account, it was said, “We congratulate the family who found the first safe find from the Viking period in Jomfruland.”

Experts said there were settlements on the island dating back hundreds of years, but the evidence found so far only dates back to the Middle Ages. (UAV)
