As soon as it’s sunny, you have to take out your sunglasses to protect baby’s little eyes. Our tips for finding the right pair and our selection of sunglasses for young children.
The first year, baby’s eyes are very fragile. The lens (the membrane responsible for protecting the pupil) is not yet mature and the child is therefore particularly sensitive to the sun. To avoid eye or vision problems, it is therefore necessary to protect your little one’s eyes. You can keep him in the shade and put a hat on him but, above all, put him Sun glasses. Choosing them is not always easy because it is easy to get lost between the protection indices. What you need to know is that the best for children (and adults!) is to opt for category 3 or 4 glasses, the latter being the ideal. No question of taking glasses that are simply tinted because they do not protect against UV! Some brands also offer glasses with a blue light filter, which can be interesting if your child uses screens, for example during car journeys. Another important point: babies don’t have a bridge of the nose yet, so rounded, soft frames are needed so they fit on her little face. Most of baby sunglasses brands offer frames with flexible temples that do not rest on the ears, or even no temples but a headband, which ensures the child’s comfort and motivates him to wear them. If there is a headband, it must be adjustable to adapt to the size of the child. Now that you know how to choose sunglasses for your baby, why not take a look at our selection of the best models?
