The victim’s family members (all of whom are played by well-known Hollywood actors), are suspects. The feature film is to be discovered on France 2 this April 2, 2023, at 9:10 p.m.

The plot of At daggers drawn takes place in an impressive mansion. And know that it does exist! It was discovered by production designer David Crank, in Massachusetts, USA. This mansion was built in the 1890s and retains the original neo-Gothic architectural style. Note, however, that the interior was not shot in the same location, since it was the Ames Mansion in Borderland State Park that served as the backdrop for the scenes that take place in the Thrombey family mansion. We should also remember that a new investigation by Benoît Blanc, entitled Glass Onionsis to be seen on Netflix, while a third film is also due out in a few years.

After Star Wars 8 : The Last Jedi, Rian Johnson offers us a project halfway between comedy and thriller with A Couteaux Tirés (Knives Out in the original version). This new feature film, which seems to return to the fundamentals of the investigative film genre, has the luxury of a particularly impressive cast. Daniel Craig (Casino Royale), Chris Evans (avengers Endgame), Ana De Armas (Blade Runner 2049), Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween), Toni Colette (Sixth Sense), Don Johnson (Two Sons in Miami), Michael Shannon (The Shape of Water), Lakeith Stanfield (Get Out), Katherine Langford (13 Reasons Why), Jaeden Martell (That, chapter 2) and Christopher Plummer (All the Money in the World) are all part of the impressive cast of the Looper director’s new film. And, just before the release of a new trailer this Wednesday, September 18, discover the posters dedicated to the characters of A Knives Out.

The specialist magazine First found A Knives Out “joyful and ultra-sophisticated” but also “tricky and fun”. “The suspense mechanics are diabolical, but what’s most impressive is the sophisticated and ethereal way in which Johnson twists the codes of the genre”. Polar “sharpened in the manner of Agathe Christie” according to Le Figaro, A Knives Out benefits from a “flamboyant distribution”. The viewer finds himself “immediately caught up in the mystery”. The daily affirms that in the end, “the surprise is great, not to mention the reversals and the dramatic outcome of the outcome”.

The Parisian is a little less rave, finding the film both “intriguing and long”. The Ile-de-France newspaper found, for example, that Daniel Craig “does tons of it and quickly becomes tiresome” in this film “which reveals too many clues along the way but which nevertheless turns out to be brilliantly produced at times”. The world praises both the thriller aspect of A Knives Out and its double reading: “Rian Johnson’s fifth feature film depicts the United States of today, their divisions and their hypocrisy, on a cheerful tempo and acerbic.”

In the United States, the critical consensus is very positive, as evidenced by the rating obtained by A Knives Out on Rotten Tomatoes. The critical rating (weighted on 206 reviews) is 96% positive reviews. The public score is just as high after the publication of 784 reviews on the review aggregator site. It’s an excellent score for Rian Johnson’s film which seems to have convinced across the Atlantic.

Should we go see Knives Out? The opinion of Linternaute.com

With Knives Out, Rian Johnson takes a break between two big-budget projects. He tries out a new genre, that of thriller, “whodunnit” as the Americans say. Carried by a cast of stars who visibly have fun on the screen, the feature film takes up the codes of the genre with numerous references to the novels of Agathe Christie. But Rian Johnson in no way offers a backward-looking vision of the investigative film. The director also infuses a lot of humor in the repartee of his characters but also in a certain vision of America which is torn apart around a heritage. The mystery as such allows the scenario, original let us specify it, of many surprises and reversals of situation served by involved actors and a setting in image of quality. We can mention in particular the performances of Daniel Craig, Chris Evans and above all Ana de Armas, three actors who transmit at all times their happiness to be part of this project off the beaten track. We highly recommend that you go see A Knives Out!
