Whenever a gamer takes a shower, his monitor turns off – and that gets on his nerves terribly

A user has a strange problem. When he turns on the shower, his monitor says goodbye. It gets on his nerves because every time someone takes a shower, he sits there without a monitor.

The user De_Rabbid explained on Reddit about a strange phenomenon, which he supports with a short video: You can see the user running into the bathroom. Here you see him turning on the shower. At the same moment, the monitor in the next room says goodbye.

The owner of the shower and monitor is visibly annoyed by this. Because it’s “fucking annoying and hilarious every time someone showers here” and the monitor turns off. Imagine this: Your wife is showering next door and your monitor goes black in an important match.

Electrical impulse causes disturbance

What is causing the problem? The user uses a shower with an attached electric heater. These are systems that are often installed in existing houses without having to make major conversions. Because such systems require only minor intervention in the pipe system. This is how someone explains:

When you turn on the shower, the heater could activate, which could cause electromagnetic interference or a slight surge of electricity in the line, causing the display to go black.

Monitors are particularly susceptible to such interference. A user who was able to deactivate his monitor with a soda can also noticed this. And such “disorders” are actually not uncommon.

Such electrical disturbances on the PC are more common

What other disruptions are there? A gamer experienced strange voices coming from his computer that only disappeared after turning off his speakers.

In order to at least prevent or filter out high-frequency interference, manufacturers of electrical cables rely on a device that many of you have probably already seen. Because you can find such a small, black cylinder on almost every charging cable. You can read what that brings in the following article on MeinMMO:

Why do so many USB and charging cables have a weird piece of plastic built into them, and why do gamers need it?
