Announced from Methuselah, Crimson Desert had not given any sign of life since the Game Awards 2020. Three years of radio silence therefore ended this evening at the gamescom conference with a new gameplay video, which did not fail to cause a sensation in Cologne. It must be said that the Pearl Abyss studio went all out to impress the West, so much so that the reviews came out just as dry. Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, Assassin’s Creed, Elden Ring and even Final Fantasy XVI are the games with which it has been compared in order to place it in the video game planet. And it is true that this Crimson Desert shares a lot of elements with these titles mentioned above. Starting with his character who wears his equipment (sword, shield and bow) in the same way as Link in his last open world adventures. We even see the character doing free fall in the middle of flying structures, something new that we had not discovered in previous videos.
In terms of gameplay, the game seems to offer many gameplay possibilities, especially melee, with an advanced combat system that allows you to perform sweeps to knock the enemy down and execute them on the ground afterwards. . Crimson Desert also promises many panoramas that can be traversed on horseback and on which one can engage in combat, with sword or bow. There will also be a futuristic aspect with the possibility of crossing portals which will allow you to teleport to different places on the map, but that, we already knew.
The release of Crimson Desert is not yet known, but we do know that it is expected on PC, PS5, Xbox Series, PS4 and Xbox One.
