The first shipment of the Turkovac vaccine was made to Ankara. Last night, 150 thousand doses of Turkovac vaccine were brought to the vaccine and medicine warehouse of the General Directorate of Public Health in Ankara. From the Department of Vaccine Preventable Diseases of the General Directorate of Public Health, Dr. Tarkan Yamanoğlu stated that 150 thousand doses of vaccine have been shipped and the shipments will continue. Stating that the vaccines will be transferred to the distribution stage after the data matrix and analysis processes are carried out, Yamanoğlu said: “We hope to distribute them next week. Vaccines are kept here in the cold chain at 2 to 8 degrees. There is a dose for 5 people in 1 vial. With the completion of the control and quarantine period, It will be planned to be distributed”
Ankara City Hospital General Hospital Chief Physician Assoc. Dr. İhsan Ateş explained that 70 percent of the volunteers were vaccinated in the study, in which Turkovac was administered as a reminder dose in patients with 2 doses of Sinovac, and said, “From next week, our study will begin to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of Turkovac in children aged 16-18 years.”
Assoc. Dr. İhsan Ateş said, “From next week, our study to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of the Turkovac vaccine in children aged 16-18 will begin. Likewise, our study will begin in which 2 doses of Biontech will be administered as a reminder dose of Turkovac. Our vaccine has been approved for immediate use, but they are also short-lived. “It will increase the reliability of our study if we have completed it in time and published its efficacy and safety in international articles. Therefore, we welcome all volunteers who meet the criteria to our study center.”
In the statement made by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the expressions were used, “From the end of next week, we will be in widespread use in our city hospitals before the end of the year.” Health Minister Fahrettin Koca, on the other hand, said, “Some examinations will be carried out. We hope that these examinations will be completed in a week, 10 days. Our vaccine will be available next weekend before the end of the year.”
