Most polling places in the US close at 7 or 8 pm local time on November 5th. The polling stations on the east coast close the earliest.

In this order, the polling stations close, Swedish time, around the United States:

  • At 1 a.m.: Virginia, Vermont, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida (except for the westernmost part, which is one hour behind), Indiana (except for some counties which are one hour behind), Kentucky (except for the one half which is an hour after) and New Hampshire (where some parts close later).
  • At 01.30: West Virginia, Ohio and North Carolina.
  • At 2:00 a.m.: Alabama, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, Maine, Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma and Tennessee (where some areas close one hour earlier).
  • At 02.30: Arkansas.
  • At 3:00 a.m.: Kansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Michigan, Minnesota, Arizona, Colorado (mostly postal votes), New York, Texas, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Wymoing.
  • At 4:00 a.m.: Iowa, Nebraska, Nevada, Montana and Utah.
  • At 05:00: California, Idaho, Oregon (mail votes), Washington (mail votes) and North Dakota (where large parts close earlier).
  • At 6:00 a.m.: Hawaii and Alaska (in the Aleutian Islands, which are part of Alaska, 07 is closed).
