The Outlander series has been delighting fantasy fans for over 10 years with an irresistible mix of time travel and romance in a historical setting. Anyone who prefers to stream the epic story of the Fraser clan as a subscription will get the latest but only 6 seasons on Netflix to see.
In the USA, the broadcast of the 7th season of Outlander recently ended and in this country too new episodes have already been released in German. However, it could be quite a while before the 16-part season 7 makes its way onto Netflix.
When does Outlander season 7 start on Netflix?
The plot of season 7 is based on the two novels A hint of snow and ash (Original title: A Breath of Snow and Ashes) as well A shadow of betrayal and love (Written in My Own Heart’s Blood) by author Diana Gabaldon. In it, the Frasers’ lives are determined by the American Revolutionary War and further time travel.
The previous seasons have always only appeared on Netflix a year after the end of the German premiere. However, season 6 was a major exception and only appeared on Netflix two years after its online release in June 2024.

The bitter answer for many fans is that it is difficult to estimate when we can expect season 7 on Netflix. The reason for this is a 15-month midseason break that separated both halves of the season when it first aired. It would be possible for the streaming service to initially only include the first half of the season in the program. Then fans could probably gather in the August or September 2025 looking forward to new episodes.
A Netflix release of the entire season, however, could take until 2026 or 2027. If you don’t want to wait that long to see Jamie and Claire Fraser again, you can fortunately stream season 7 elsewhere.
Where can I stream Outlander Season 7 now?
A lot has changed for the German release of Outlander since season 6. Instead of a pay-TV premiere, the fantasy series has since been offered as a VoD purchase in this country shortly after the US broadcast. This is also the case with season 7.
You can currently watch the 7th season of Outlander on Amazon, Apple TV and Magenta TV as a digital purchase version acquire. The cheapest option is Amazon Prime Video, where the entire season is currently available for €19.99*. Season 7 includes a total of 16 episodes – and those who have already purchased a season pass can stream the season finale from January 23, 2025.
Outlander isn’t over yet with Season 7. The time travel series is getting an 8th season, which will bring the story of the Fraser clan to a close with 10 episodes later this year. Even before the series finale, a prequel series, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, will be released in summer 2025, which will shed light on the back stories of Jamie and Claire’s parents.
