Classic moment

One of the classic moments took place during the five-mile in Norway’s Holmenkollen in 1987 – a place that will forever be written in the history books as one of the most iconic ski arenas.

During the five-mile race in 1987, Wassberg was on his way to victory in the race, when suddenly a skater appeared in front of him in the track – a skater who then felt that he was alive.

Wassberg’s trick

In the clip, we can clearly see how Wassberg with his primal strength goes in wholeheartedly to take home the victory, when the rider in front of him gets in the way. The Swede then strikes the skater with his pole to get him to move – a clear signal that you should not stand in the way when Thomas Wassberg is on the winning track.

The signal also turned out to work, Wassberg won the race, which was his third victory in Holmenkollen’s five-mile race. No other Swede has won that race on more occasions than the great Thomas Wassberg.
