When Thomas “Bulan” Berglund got mega hubris – and hailed himself as the best: “Best in Sweden”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Thomas “Bulan” Berglund is nowadays the head coach in Luleå Hockey.
As a player, he was perhaps not the biggest of stars – unless you ask him.
Because after a meeting with Färjestad, he got real hubris, and praised himself to the skies.

Thomas “Bulan” Berglund is one of Sweden’s most famous hockey coaches. As a player, he began his career in Piteå HC before moving on to Luleå Hockey where there were a total of 17 seasons between 1988-2005. There he also got to take part in taking the club’s first SM gold in 1996.

Outspoken “Bulan”

As a player, Berglund was known for being outspoken and he had a tough playing style to say the least. Something that he later took with him to the coaching bench as well.

And speaking of outspokenness, there is one particular moment during Thomas Berglund’s playing career that we will never forget. Even though he wasn’t the brightest star, he could sometimes think so himself. Not least after the meeting against Färjestad a couple of years ago.

“The absolute best”

Berglund scored a goal in the match, and then got real hubris.

Later, he corrected his answer in the TV4 program “Hockey evening” – and diluted his hubris one more notch.
– I said I was one of Sweden’s best centers, but I mean the absolute best, says “Bulan” to the presenter’s great surprise.
