Pekka Lindmark is one of Swedish hockey’s most beautiful profiles.
Now the former teammate recalls an unforgettable memory with the goalkeeper icon.

There are few Swedish hockey players who can top it Peter “Pekka” Lindmark when it comes to wonderful personality. In addition to being a really damn good hockey goalie, the legend had a charisma that really stood out.

He is one of Tre Kronor’s biggest goalkeeper icons and can proudly show off 2 WC gold and 3 WC silver from his time with the national team. In addition, Lindmark won 4 SM golds for the Swedish clubs Färjestad and Malmö.

Pekka really left a big mark in Swedish hockey and to this day there are old stories from the past that prove exactly how beautiful he was as a hockey goalie – and above all his bravado on the side of the ice.

“Knocked on”
The SHL profile Peter Andersson who has both played and coached the Malmö Redhawks, had the great honor of playing alongside the goalie icon. The duo were teammates both in Malmö and Tre Kronor during the late 80s and early 90s.

Above all, he remembers a particularly unforgettable moment with Pekka Lindmark. When he received the most unexpected welcome from his teammate in his hotel room.
– We played with the national team in Finland. We played a match and then Pekka said to me: “See you in my room in 10 minutes”. Okay, I answered, Andersson tells when he is a guest on the podcast “Släpp Sargen”.
– And I almost understood what it was. But I went and knocked on his door. He was talking to his wife Rita on the phone and then he had just found out that they were going to have a baby. He was naturally incredibly proud and happy about the news.

The incredible message of joy then led to teammates feeling so compelled to celebrate, but there would be consequences.
– Then he had a bottle of whiskey standing there. It disappeared pretty quickly when we shared it. The bus was then supposed to leave in the morning with the national team and they ended up knocking on our door, we had overslept… We got to the bus a little too late, if you say so. But maybe it was a valid reason anyway and a fun thing to be involved with with him, he says in the hockey podcast, which you can listen to below.
