The Finnish hockey player Petri Kontiola has played in the NHL, and was part of the Finnish national team that took Olympic bronze in Sochi 2014.
But perhaps he is best known for something else.
In the same year, he did an interview during an international match against Canada – an interview that has since become a classic.
The Finnish ice hockey player Petri Kontiola is probably not that well known to the Swedish hockey public. The 38-year-old Finn belongs to the Russian KHL club Lokomotiv Jaroslavl, but has previously played for the Chicago Blackhawks in the NHL and made several international appearances for Finland.
Classic interview
The center was among other things when Finland took bronze during the Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014, and he has been there and met Tre Kronor several times. But perhaps he is better known for what he did outside the rink rather than in it – specifically during an interview in an international match against Canada in 2014.

Finland won the match but instead of showing joy at the victory, it was a Petri Kontiola who was not very keen to talk to the Czech reporter who interviewed him.

“I don’t know”
The reporter asked three questions, after which Kontiola briefly answered “I don’t know” or “I don’t know” to all three before saying goodbye and heading out to the dressing room.

The clip has subsequently been posted on YouTube, where it has been named “Finnish Small Talk Ice Hockey star Petri Kontiola interview”. However, it is quite clear from the interview that cold talk is not Petri Kontiola’s strong suit.
