NATO did not agree on a timetable for Ukraine’s NATO membership, which does not satisfy the warring state.
On Wednesday, the NATO countries will continue to discuss Ukraine, now the president to Volodymyr Zelensky with.
Yesterday, Tuesday, NATO agreed on how Ukraine will become a member: NATO will simplify the accession process and invite Ukraine to become a member only when the conditions are met and all member countries are unanimous.
There is more to come as a sidekick. NATO supports the country financially, for example. Member states continue to provide arms aid.
During the meeting, it was also agreed that Ukrainian F16 fighter pilots will start training in Denmark and the training center will be in Romania. However, no one has yet donated F16s to Ukraine.
Zelenskyi both praised and criticized the policies
Ukraine understood that a warring country would not be accepted as a member. But the country would have liked a clear view of what will happen when the war is over.
Zelenskyi had time to criticize NATO’s promises fresh. On Twitter, Zelenskyi said it was absurd that no timetable was given for the invitation or the membership. He said Ukraine deserves respect.
Later, he also thanked the partner countries for their support and anticipated Wednesday’s meetings with the supporting countries.
In addition to Ukraine, the NATO meeting includes a large number of partner countries. There are also several countries in the Indo-Pacific region, such as Australia, New Zealand and Japan, which have security concerns in the Far East.
For example, the United States listens and supports these countries. NATO’s activity also arouses resentment in some NATO countries. NATO plans to open a “liaison office” in Japan, which annoys France.
Niinistö summarizes the experiences of the first summit
Finland’s views on the outcome of the first NATO meeting will also be heard on Wednesday. President Sauli Niinistön is expected to meet the Finnish media in the afternoon.
Finland’s goal is to start with NATO unity, Sweden’s membership and Ukraine’s support.
Finland’s views on, for example, the concerns of the Far East and the role of NATO countries have hardly been heard in public.
During the meeting, President Niinistö has also met several heads of state, for example the President of France Emmanuel Macron and the German Chancellor By Olaf Scholz.
