When is Berlin season 2 coming to Netflix? The new Money Heist series is already facing a big problem

What happens when Spanish passion meets the romantic scenery of Paris and jewelry worth 44 million euros has to be stolen? The Money Heist prequel Berlin, which has been streaming on Netflix since December 29th, provides an answer to this.

For eight episodes we follow the master thief Andrés de Fonollosa Gonzalves aka Berlin (Pedro Alonso) and his gang as they plan and execute their Paris heist – and the subsequent escape. Although the story seems complete, the Berlin series ends with a promise of a sequel.

But will Berlin get a second season? When might it start on Netflix? And what does the end of season 1 reveal about what could happen next for Berlin and Co.? Here you can find all the important information:

When could Berlin season 2 start on Netflix?

It is still too early to speculate about a possible sequel to the new Berlin series. As a rule, the viewing figures in the first few weeks after the launch are decisive in determining what verdict Netflix will make.

However, due to the popularity of Money Heist and fan favorite Berlin, the chances are good. In an interview with Variety, Berlin star Pedro Allonso is still cautious about a sequel: “We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

Season 1 began filming in October 2022 and took more than 14 months to release. Since there are no concrete plans for season 2 yet, this could on Netflix in 2025 at the earliest start.

Berlin Season 2 already has a problem and it’s called Money Heist

The robbery of the jewels from the Chez Vienot auction house is behind us. However, at the end of the first season, Berlin lost much of the loot. He left a 40 percent share (!) to his most recent love, Camille (Samantha Siqueiros). And so in the final scene, Berlin and Damian (Tristán Ulloa) met in a bullring with the promise: “We have to start a new raid.

Of course, season 2 could now build on this and gather Berlin’s team for another heist. However, there is a problem: the chronology of Money Heist.

Berlin and Damian are already planning the next robbery

Although the Berlin series is reluctant to give specific dates, there are some indications (such as the mention of the horror film The Purge) that the spin-off will be released no later than In 2013 have to play. In House of Money itself we learned that five years before the attack on the Madrid central bank (and about 3 years before his death), Berlin was already living in a monastery near Florence with his future wife Tatiana and friend Palermo.

If we assume that the Central Bank Heist took place in 2019 – the year Season 3 was released and before the never-mentioned pandemic – then the numerous Money Heist flashbacks about Berlin’s wedding and his gold heist planning would be located in 2014. So the spin-off doesn’t have much time to get to this point.

What we expect from Berlin Season 2

Season 2 would therefore focus on a new raid. Italy, Berlin’s soon-to-be residence, would be a possible location. A detour to Singapore would also be possible. Thanks to a bank note message, we know that Berlin wants to meet Camille there on June 23rd in a bar called Blue Moon.

The love story between Berlin and Camille has not yet been told to the end. At least we know that he married at least one more woman before he met Tatiana (wife number 5) a short time later. The prequel began after his separation from wife number 3.

Since the series doesn’t have much narrative time, season 2 could also shed light on how Berlin and Tatiana got to know each other. Maybe his best friend Palermo, who has not yet been mentioned in the Berlin series, will finally be seen.

In addition, the two Inspectoras Alicia Sierra (Najwa Nimri) and Raquel Murillo (Itziar Ituño) still have a score to settle with the team that they were unable to catch. And with the exception of leader Berlin, every single member of the gang could be caught by them during the next raid. Because at the time of House of Money they were no longer part of Berlin’s life.
