A player for the big matches.
It was really Henrik Zetterberg – and something he showed in the decisive match that took Detroit to the Stanley Cup final 2008.
Henrik Zetterberg was without a doubt one of Sweden’s greatest hockey players of all time. The center was so incredibly important to his Detroit, where he was captain and the heart of the team for many seasons.
Incredible career
And the time in Red Wings was a successful one. Among other things, the Swede was involved in winning the Stanley Cup, and was every season one of the organization’s best scorers.
Henrik Zetterberg’s best season was undoubtedly 2007/08 when he took part in taking the Stanley Cup trophy to the Red Wings. Not only that, it was also the Swede’s best scoring ever in the NHL with 92 in the regular season and a full 27 in the playoffs.
Delicious goal in boxplay
The Swede had many great moments during the playoffs, and on the way to the final was perhaps the very best in the series before against the Dallas Stars. Detroit needed to win to reach the final, then of course Henrik Zetterberg stepped forward.
At 3-2 to Detroit, Stars pressed in the third period. The Red Wings were forced into boxplay where Zetterberg often had great confidence.
And when Dallas fumbles a bit in the Red Wings zone, Zetterberg twists the puck, takes proper speed towards the opponents’ goal and puts it nicely there among the net meshes.
