When Erik Karlsson got completely tired of Sidney Crosby’s silliness – and stood for the most beautiful mockery on the ice of all time

Erik Karlsson is not just a devil at playing hockey.
He is also one of the world’s funniest on the ice.
Like the time he got tired of Sidney Crosby’s caterpillar – and stood for a crazy mockery

It has been harder for Erik Karlsson in recent years. Since moving to the San Jose Sharks, he has been ruined most of the time by injuries, but there is no doubt about the incredible capacity he possesses – and in his best days he is still one of the world’s absolute best slopes.

The best hill in the world

But it is, after all, some difference from a few years ago. When Karlsson made his final seasons in the Ottawa Senators, he was the world’s best defender, and he received enormous attention in North America for how he carried his Ottawa Senators on his shoulders. But Karlsson was also liked by fans as well as experts for other reasons.

Throughout his career, Karlsson has played with a smile on his face and it is not uncommon for him to really offer himself, both on the ice and alongside it. Karlsson is simply a guy who makes people laugh, and even when it means the most, in the world’s best hockey league. There are several examples of when he, among other things, comes up with beautiful beauties to other Swedes in the NHL – but the best example came perhaps during a match against the Pittsburgh Penguins a few years ago.

Stupid mockery

Many had been hugely focused when meeting players like Sidney Crosby. But before a technical, Erik Karlsson saw that the Pittsburgh team captain went around and talked to his players with his hand over his mouth. This is something that most superstars do, just so that the cameras do not capture what is said between the players – but Erik Karlsson just thought it was a caterpillar.

So before the tech, he took the opportunity to mock Crosby – by ironically putting his hand in front of his mouth and pretending to talk. Offering such a joke when faced with the world’s best players requires a real skull, and that’s exactly what made Erik Karlsson so extremely entertaining to watch. What a lyre!
