Are you a real WoW veteran? Or did you only settle into Azeroth late? In our survey, we want to know for sure.
World of Warcraft is one of the longest running MMORPGs. If you were playing at launch almost 20 years ago, it is now quite likely that you will encounter players in Azeroth who were not even born then.
If you compare the oldest version of World of Warcraft with the current one, you will notice many differences. Whether it’s the combat system, skill rotations, or numerous new systems such as achievements, pet battles, mount collections, or transmogrification, WoW has undergone numerous changes in its lifetime.
In doing so, Blizzard has tried to make the game more accessible and more appealing to the general public. Sometimes it worked – and sometimes it didn’t. World of Warcraft reached its peak of subscribers around the time of Wrath of the Lich King. But what are now veterans with 14 years of experience under their belts were the so-called “wrath babies” at the time of the release – newcomers who only got into the game with WotLK and were real “noobs”.
Right now to WotLK Classic, many “newbies” from back then are coming back:
For many players, this is also a very special feature when they can say: “Well, I’ve been playing since vanilla!” or “I’ve been playing for over 15 years!”. Often that alone is supposed to be enough in a discussion to win the argument.
But are they really all long-time veterans? When did most of our readers start on MeinMMO? We want to find out with a survey.
We want to know from you here: When did you start with World of Warcraft?
If you want to formulate your answer a little more, then use our comment function and explain how long you’ve been playing World of Warcraft – and when you took breaks or returned.
Incidentally, with Dragonflight, WoW wants to go back to the roots of Warcraft – the developers revealed this in an interview.
