Wes Ball, who has already directed a successful sci-fi trilogy with Maze Runner, is the director behind New Kingdom. When we met him for an interview before the film’s release, he shared his Hopes for the future of the series:
I would say, [Planet der Affen: New Kingdom] is just the beginning of the journey we have planned for Noa. This is where it all starts for the figure. Whatever happens next, audiences should expect it to continue just as challenging and full of drama and conflict. And hopefully the next film will deliver a great spectacle that should definitely be seen on the big screen. Mind-blowing cinematic experiences – that’s what we want to achieve when we make a film like Planet of the Apes.

Noa’s journey in the Planet of the Apes universe has only just begun
However, Ball is not just about the event character. For him, the Planet of the Apes films also represent considered blockbuster cinema:
At the same time, I want to create something that is thought-provoking and really interesting. What I’ve always liked about Planet of the Apes is that the films deeper than most other blockbusters are. They are thinking people’s blockbusters, but in a strange way. They are the height of spectacle, using cutting-edge technology to create stunning images, but at their heart they tell the simple, heartfelt story of characters wrestling with the coexistence of two different species.
