  • prepare a mixture of soil and sand, in equal parts;
  • take clean pots with a hole in the bottom;
  • place gravel or pebbles in the bottom to create drainage;
  • fill the cups with the mixture;
  • make several pilot holes per bucket with a piece of drink or a pencil;
  • place the cuttings over the entire surface of the pot;
  • push them down to within a centimeter of the first leaves;
  • reseal and tamp all around the cuttings;
  • water;
  • keep the buckets in a greenhouse or in a sheltered corner of the garden, exposed between the Sun and partial shade, in order to limit the risks of possible late frosts. Leave them outside all summer, watering regularly. From next autumn, you can extract the rooted cuttings in order to plant them directly, in their final place.

How to transplant cuttings in the ground?

Here are some tips for making a small boxwood border:

  • delimit the planting area of ​​the cuttings to draw a border with a chalk line;
  • work the soil so that it is light;
  • dress the cuttings as previously explained;
  • plant the cuttings directly in the ground;
  • only the leaves should come out of the ground;
  • space each cutting 10-15cm apart for a low border;
  • water lightly.
