When and how Dead Reckoning 2 will continue

Mission: Impossible 7 – Dead Reckoning Part One celebrates its theatrical release on July 13, 2023 and anyone who has not yet been taken aback by the title of the action blockbuster will ask themselves the urgent question of when the sequel will be released by the end of the film at the latest Mission: Impossible 8 – Dead Reckoning Part Two comes. Because despite euphoric reactions, Ethan Hunt’s (Tom Cruise) new adventure still owes us some answers.

When does Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two start?

So far there have always been three to five years between the starts of the individual Ethan Hunt adventures. But since the latest Mission Impossible film was partly shot in a double pack with its successor, the waiting time for part 8 is much shorter: Dead Reckoning 2 already has a German theatrical release on June 27, 2024 – in less than a year.

Mission Impossible 8: What awaits us in the 2nd part of Dead Reckoning?

Warning, massive spoilers for Mission Impossible 7 follow from here: In Dead Reckoning Part 1, Ethan Hunt chases a key that can be used to control or destroy the threat of a new AI entity. Though his nemesis Gabriel (Esai Morales) seems to have the upper hand for a long time, by the end of the film, Tom Cruise’s character is finally in possession of both of the necessary key pieces. But the key still needs a lock and so Ethan’s path has to take it in part 2 under the ice to the sunken Sevastopol submarine lead, of which he knows from Paris (Pom Klementieff).

With the key, this submarine, shown at the beginning of Mission Impossible 7, holds the solution to the question of how to defeat artificial intelligence (thanks to beta tests and source code). Because the AI threatens to plunge the now largely digitally dependent world into chaos. But because his opponent is the only one who knows the exact location of the torpedoed submarine, needs Ethan Gabriel to reach his goal.

The renewed meeting of bitter enemies should provide enough fuel for the second film. On the one hand, after Ilsa Faust’s (Rebecca Ferguson) death, Ethan still has a score to settle with Gabriel, which he can only settle once the submarine has been found. On the other hand, Mission Impossible 8 also has to explain to us what is in Ethan’s past happened between the two old acquaintances before his IMF career and what a certain Marie (Mariela Garriga) had to do with it.

New crazy stunts and mask deceptions are sure to happen in Dead Reckoning 2. At the same time there will be a reunion with many well-known characters.
