De Woerdense Vergeer, winner of 21 grand slam titles and 7 gold Paralympic medals, has been with her family for a few days in the American city of Newport, where the ITHF has its headquarters and museum. It is an important place in American tennis history, because the first edition of the US Open took place in Newport in 1881, at the time the second grand slam tournament ever.
