WhatsApp may be a very practical application, it hides a little -known rule from its users who can lead to a banishment of your account.
If you are used to using WhatsApp to dialogue with those around you, this information is likely to interest you. Although the application is always one of the most used in the world to receive and send messages, it is sometimes possible that it itself takes care to erase your conversations or even delete your account for reasons of or protection of personal data.
On several social networks and community sites such as the Reddit platform, there are several users who have experienced this mishap. “My WhatsApp account has been deleted ! How can I find it ? ” For example wonders a surfer distraught by the situation. He explains in particular having realized the disappearance of all his history on WhatsaApp when his friends asked him why he had suddenly left their discussion groups. On his smartphone, a simple notification indicated: “Whatsapp profile deleted automatically”.
By going to the application again, affected users have also noticed that the WhatsApp account they had used for years simply no longer existed. And for good reason: Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, had proceeded to its outgoing and simple suppression. Worse still: some have realized a little late that when an account is deleted, there are only a few days to reactivate it otherwise the latter is definitively lost.
It is a recent rule, introduced by WhatsApp at the end of 2023, which led to these removal of untimely accounts. And if it is unknown, it is very simple: WhatsApp has decided to delete the accounts (and all the linked conversations) which were not active for a period of 120 days or more. In other words, if you accumulate 4 months of inactivity, your WhatsApp account will be deleted. A brutal decision and especially without notice since the application will not warn you if your account is soon detected as inactive.
Once a WhatsApp account is deleted, your number will also automatically leave the various discussion groups he had joined above. The files that you will not have downloaded to your smartphone or tablet will also be inaccessible, unless you find them through your contacts that will send them back to you.
If your WhatsApp account has just been deleted due to inactivity, do not panic. You can always redo an account using your phone number. However, you will have to find your contacts and files that were not stored locally on your device, since they will have been deleted.
