WhatsApp Tests Favorite Contacts Feature in New Beta Version

Meta has been rolling out and testing new features for WhatsApp religiously. Some are useful, like Chat Lock, which adds an extra layer of security and privacy to your private conversations. But for a messaging app as popular as WhatsApp, used by more than a billion people every day, one important feature is missing, and that’s the ability to set favorite contacts. You can pin important conversations to the top of your inbox, but there’s no way to mark a contact as a favorite for quick voice or video calls. Fortunately, this may soon change in the future.

WhatsApp is testing its new feature

WABetaInfo found references to the favorite contacts feature in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android v2.24.5.5. As the name suggests, this feature allows you to mark some contacts as favorites for quick access from the Calls tab. All such favorite profiles will appear at the top of the Searches tab and you can search them with just a tap.

The favorites bar will significantly speed up the process of searching for specific contacts via WhatsApp. If you often use WhatsApp to call your contacts, this contacts shortcut will save you a lot of time as you will not have to review your call log or contact list every time.
