Many of the recent changes to WhatsApp revolve around features like Channels, which were widely introduced last year. Recent updates to the app have given us a good idea of what’s to come, including the ability to share Channel posts in status format. It looks like WhatsApp is preparing a redesign for the Status section in the Updates tab, which houses both Status and Channel posts.
WhatsApp includes Channel posts in Status tab
This new redesign of the Status tab has been given a good look via WABetaInfo, who found it in version 2.24.4.23 of the WhatsApp beta for Android. This update basically makes the status section more prominent in the Updates tab. However, the change is currently only visible to a handful of beta testers, so even having the latest version installed may not reveal the revamped design.
While WABetaInfo’s screenshot only shows a preview of the self-loading status, updates from your contacts should appear right next to them in a card-style format. In contrast, the old design of the Status section used a circular icon bearing a screenshot of the user. This redesign also provides a quick preview of the status you or your contacts have posted.
