WhatsApp stands as one of the most widely used messaging apps worldwide, and since its acquisition by tech giant Meta, it has been evolving with more social media-like features. Recently, it was reported that WhatsApp status updates are increasingly becoming like Instagram stories and now allow users to tag others. It looks like there are other changes on the horizon for status updates.

WhatsApp is renewing status updates

In the latest WhatsApp beta (v2.24.7.16) update for Android, the WABetaInfo team has revealed a redesigned editor page for status updates. There is now a Text option at the bottom of the screen, alongside the existing Video and Photo options. Currently, WhatsApp only allows video and photo updates via the My Status option in the Updates tab.

In the screenshot, you can see that at the bottom of the screen, users will have the option to share text, video or photos, thus making the sharing process even better. This new way to share status updates is currently being worked on and will be available in a future update of the app.
