WhatsApp makes it possible to share photos and videos in original quality with its new feature

It looks like Meta has finally decided to fix the quality issue in sharing photos and videos.

WhatsApp has been one of the most popular instant messaging apps for a long time. In addition, it is widely used, especially in Europe. However, there was a major restriction in the way the app handled the sharing of photos and videos. It looks like its parent company Meta is finally starting to sort this out.

Photos and videos will now be sent in better quality on WhatsApp

Sending photos and videos via WhatsApp caused the quality to be greatly reduced. Because the service was trying to ensure that these were sent and received as quickly as possible. However, as cellular connection speeds are increasing, WhatsApp has recently started offering a feature called “HD photo and video sharing”.

This now allows for better quality media to be sent in chats. But now it seems that WhatsApp is starting to test to go a step further and finally allow people to share their photos and videos in their original quality without additional compression.

WhatsApp solves a big problem

This information was shared by WhatsApp beta trackers WABetaInfo. They state that the latest beta has already started testing the new feature. It looks like the new option will appear in the document picker that lets people select photos and videos from the app gallery. The option to select original quality photos or videos is available in the latest beta available to testers. WhatsApp currently treats media like public documents. This means that files up to 2 GB can be sent.

It is important to note that this new feature is still in beta and may be removed at any time. Also, the feature may never be made available to the public. However, WhatsApp probably wouldn’t have started testing this feature if it hadn’t had such an intention.

But WhatsApp now puts an end to the compression problem that has caused quality loss in photo and video sharing for a long time. Developed by Meta, WhatsApp will allow users to share high-quality media without compression. If we are allowed to use it, all photos and videos will be shared in a better quality.
