In another move that underscores its focus on security and privacy, WhatsApp is adding support for View Once voice messages globally, several months after the feature was released in the beta version of the app on Android and iOS.
WhatsApp feature supports globally
View Once is what WhatsApp calls the general option in the app to send photos and videos that can only be viewed once by the recipient and cannot be screenshotted or saved, and was first introduced in 2021. It is now being expanded to include voice messages.
View Once voice messages contain strong encryption
Just like View Once photos, a View Once voicemail has a one-time icon next to it and will self-destruct on the recipient’s device immediately after it is played. This also applies to voice messages shared in both individual and group chats. End-to-end encryption is also applied to these messages, but this does not prevent WhatsApp from accessing these messages in case someone reports a one-time voice message.
