WhatsApp is offering a host of little new features at the start of 2025! On the program: effects for photos and videos, faster reactions to messages and stickers made from selfies!
Not a month goes by without WhatsApp receiving new features or improvements. Over the last few months, the app has continued to evolve with many more or less interesting additions, to the delight of its approximately two billion users. Thus, instant messaging now allows you to transcribe voice messages into text, create drafts for messages, and even create and manage discussion lists. And Meta doesn’t plan to stop there!
Instant messaging is celebrating the start of the year with new tools focused on creativity and interactivity. As she announces in a blog postMeta adds camera filters and effects, creation of stickers from selfies, easier sharing of sticker packs, and faster reactions to messages to WhatsApp. These options are already available on Android and will soon arrive on iOS.
WhatsApp: effects for photos and videos
The first addition is effects and filters when you take a photo or video through the app. These are visual effects generally in augmented reality which allow, depending on the case, to correct faults on a face using virtual makeup or to integrate crazy elements. If Meta had started integrating it last October, you can now choose from thirty backgrounds, filters and effects to transform your photos.
Mark Zuckerberg’s company also adds the possibility of create custom stickers directly from your own selfies. To do this, simply press the “Create” icon in the stickers menu. All you have to do is take your selfie and that’s it! Once created, the stickers are automatically saved so that we can easily view them and share them with our loved ones. There is a way to create a beautiful collection! This option is also already available on Android devices, and should arrive soon on iOS.
Besides, speaking of stickers, this update also includes the sharing of entire sticker packs with contacts. To do this, go to a discussion, click on the sticker icon then on the +, choose the pack you want to share and click on the arrow at the top right to share it. No need to send them one by one anymore!
Finally, instant messaging allows you to react more quickly to messages from your contacts. Previously, you had to tap and hold on a message to bring up the emoji bar and add a reaction. Now you just need to double-click to access the emoji bar, which displays the most used ones to save you time. A practical option that provides greater comfort for those in a hurry.
