WhatsApp made a statement on its official blog yesterday, stating that they are aware that many people are still deprived of the opportunity to access their loved ones due to internet outages, and announced that they have started to offer proxy support worldwide to help these people. According to WhatsApp, people whose connections are blocked or interrupted will continue to access WhatsApp. By choosing a proxy, it will be possible to connect to WhatsApp through the established servers.
According to WhatsApp’s claim, connecting to WhatsApp via proxy will not reduce the level of privacy and security provided by WhatsApp. Your personal messages will continue to be protected with end-to-end encryption.
Anyone using the latest version of the app will now be able to access this option in the settings menu.
