Malnutrition is one of the underlying causes of many diseases. Today, thanks to easy and fast access to unhealthy meals, diets have changed. According to studies, the foods we eat cause chronic diseases as well as being coded as diseases for future generations. Nutrition and Diet Specialist Dietician Beyza Vural Öten gave information about nutrition.
CHOOSING HEALTHY FOODS CAUSES GOOD CELLS AND WELL-FUNCTIONING ORGANS
KTO Karatay University Medicana Medical Faculty Hospital Nutrition and Diet Specialist Dietitian Beyza Vural Öten stated that the main reason for the need for nutrition is to create energy in the body. Explaining that the body uses nutrients to regenerate and repair cells, Dietitian Beyza Vural Öten said, “Our body is a constantly working and renewing mechanism. Our skeletal system is completely renewed every 10 years, our skin is renewed in 39 days, our liver in 300-500 days, and our intestinal cells in 2-5 days. “During this renewal, the foods we eat are separated into building blocks and used as raw materials. The more healthy foods we choose, the better the raw materials for our cells and well-functioning organs are formed. Therefore, we become what we eat.”
WHAT WE EAT AFFECTS OUR GENES
Emphasizing that nutrition creates and affects diseases today, Beyza Vural Öten said, “We see that nutritional mistakes play an important role in the foundation of chronic diseases. If nutrition is wrong, foods can make us sick or the right foods can heal. The amount of waste material and the amount of energy that every food creates in our body is not the same. In other words, its calories. Every food or amount of food has a different function in our body. What we eat affects not only our system, our organs, but also our genes. What we eat today is encoded as a disease for our grandchildren. The baby of a pregnant mother who smokes or is malnourished is encoded in this way of nutrition as a code. On the other hand, the next generation baby will face many health problems such as type 2 diabetes and cancer when they are born and grow up.
YOU CAN EAT HEALTHY IF YOU HAVE HEALTHY FOODS IN YOUR KITCHEN
Drawing attention to the importance of healthy nutrition, Beyza Vural Öten said, “If you have healthy food in your kitchen, you will eat healthy. The healthier your basic food materials in your kitchen and the more accurate your cooking techniques, the healthier the food you bring to the table. For example, we need flour to make bread, our flour is white. “If we use grain flour instead of flour, we will transform the bread we make into a healthier one. It is in our hands to protect our own health and future generations by consuming as much healthy food as we need at the right time,” he said.
