The developers of Final Fantasy XIV are expecting a high server load, waiting times, error codes and restrictions at the launch of the Dawntrail expansion. To ensure that all Eorzea heroes start their trip to Tural with the right expectations, Square Enix has now published a very comprehensive blog post.
Update from June 20, 2024: On the official Lodestone of Final Fantasy XIV, the developers have now announced how long the maintenance work for the upcoming expansion Dawntrail will last:
What warnings do the developers of Final Fantasy XIV give? Square Enix expects an “increased number of concurrent logins” for early access on June 28, 2024, and for the actual release on July 2, 2024. If the number of Eorzea heroes logging in is too high, queues, restrictions, and error messages will occur.

Braving the storm, that’s how it should work
What measures is Square Enix planning for the launch? Since the number of FFXIV players has increased significantly since the equally problematic launch of Endwalker (you may remember that there was even a sales freeze), the team of director and producer Naoki Yoshida has been preparing measures for weeks to make the launch phase as frustration-free as possible.
On June 11, 2024, the new Shadow data center went live for Europe. There you will find the four new worlds Innocence, Pixie, Titania and Tycoon, which are intended to provide temporary refuge for your characters.
The new worlds will only be available during the launch of Dawntrail and will only be accessible via data center travel. If your server is plagued by long queues, you can use the service to temporarily switch to one of the new worlds.

So how does the world transfer work:
Although there are limitations when using World Travel, it allows you to continue your quests in the main scenario, find groups via the Group Finder, and participate in combat content using the Content Finder.
What other measures have been taken? Since the release of Endwalker, the developers have increased the maximum capacity of all worlds by about 50 percent. In addition, there is now the option to divide heavily frequented areas of the game world into multiple instances to allow more players access to these places.
If there are queues when logging in, characters of full version owners will be given priority when logging in. Free trial characters will not be able to log in until the queue has been processed.
Also, make sure you don’t be inactive for too long at launch. After 30 minutes, inactive characters will be automatically logged out to make room for people waiting in the queue. In addition to all of this, there are other measures in place to minimize server crashes and provide players in queues with additional information.
If there are waiting times when logging in for a piece of content, your number will be displayed in the queue. How do you rate all of these measures?
