What does the answer “withheld subject to contract” mean?
The answer “retained subject to contract” concerns only candidates who have applied for training in learning. This response is equivalent to a pre-proposal for admission. Without a contract, you will not be able to register and integrate the training.
What if I’m still on the waiting list on July 16?

“I’m not sure I’ll get an admission proposal by mid-July..” What to do?
Are you on the waiting list and not at all sure that places will become available for you by the end of the main admission phase, in mid-July? If it can make you more serene, play the “anticipation” card! Register for the complementary phase and contact the CAES (higher education access commission) for assistance.
Can Parcoursup confirm a proposal for me?
Yes, if you use the autoresponder. This tool concerns candidates with pending wishes from June 3. Via this automatic responder, you can classify your wishes in order of preference. From the moment a new proposal lands in your Parcoursup file, the algorithm responds for you according to the wishes that you have pre-indicated. Note that this answering machine remains optional.
Can I know if the numbers for a course are already full?
It is not possible to know in advance, since the situation is changing: candidates give up their wishes, confirm others, places become free… It is the administrative registration which fixes the things. One piece of data can, however, shed light on the fill rate of a training: your position on the call list compared to the rank of the last called in 2021.
Parcoursup 2022 result: here’s how to keep your wishes pending if you prefer them
It is possible that you have received an admission proposal, but that you still prefer a “pending” wish. Here is the procedure to follow in this case, through three actions:
- Click on “Accept” concerning the admission proposal (so that you don’t end up with nothing)
- Then click on “Hold” for the “pending” wish(es) that still interests you
- Finally, click on “Renounce” for the other “yes”, “yes, if” and “pending” which no longer interest you
How do I know my probability of being received on the waiting list?
On the detailed training sheet, many criteria are available to you: number of places offered in 2021; number of candidates who applied in 2021 and 2020; number of admissions in 2021; the rank of the last called in 2021 or the access rate (number of candidates who have or would have received a positive response in 2021). You can then compare this data with your own rank. This gives you a clearer view of your chances of being admitted or not, and therefore of the usefulness of maintaining or not maintaining a particular wish. In any case, being on the waiting list does not guarantee that you will obtain a place in the requested training.

All my wishes are pending, what can I do?
In this case, you don’t have to do anything except wait. As your wishes are on the waiting list, they are automatically maintained. As specified above, you can however at any time delete the wishes that no longer interest you. If one of your pending wishes becomes a positive response, you will be notified instantly by email and via the Parcoursup app.
How does the waiting list work?
When the number of applications exceeds the number of places, either in the “sectors in tension”, the universities give priority a priori to the applications sticking the most to the training offered, in terms of skills as well as acquired or projects. Each time a Parcoursup candidate receives two “yes” to different courses, he has the obligation to choose one of the two at the time, in order to avoid clogging the system. But said candidate keeps his wishes “pending”.
As a candidate, you must as a reminder respond to the proposals within the time limits indicated and, once again, can only accept one at a time: in other words, you must make a choice between several admission proposals, which frees up places for candidates on the waiting list. For you too, a pending wish can turn into an admission proposal. When it comes to managing your pending wishes, keep only those that still interest you. Finally, if you receive an admission proposal for your favorite course, you must definitely accept it. You then renounce your other wishes, and again free up places for waiting candidates.
What happens if I confirm a wish?
If you have several admission proposals at the same time, you must keep only one. However, you have the possibility of keeping your wishes placed on hold, even once your admission proposal has been confirmed. If you validate a wish, it is on the other hand up to you to confirm the maintenance of any other wishes pending, otherwise you will lose them. Once your wish has been validated, all you have to do is complete your administrative registration by the end of July. This is the condition for being definitively accepted in your new formation. You will find the information to do this on Parcoursup or via the website of your establishment.
What happens if I confirm a wish?

If you validate a wish, it is on the other hand up to you to confirm the maintenance of any other wishes pending, otherwise you will lose them.
I hesitate between several proposals, how to decide?
You can gradually eliminate the training courses in which you project yourself less, which correspond less to your desires, seem less suited to your expectations… Also avoid isolating yourself with your questions. Why not talk about it with your relatives or teachers, or contact the school concerned to ask them questions?
I received a proposal, should I respond to it immediately?
You are not obliged to respond immediately but still have a limited time limit: 5 to 2 days (or even one day only) depending on the time of the procedure in which you find yourself. The response time granted is displayed opposite each Parcoursup proposal.
How to analyze the indicator “The position of the last candidate who received an admission proposal in 2022”
The indicator “The position of the last candidate having received an admission proposal in 2022” is assimilated to the rank of the last candidate called in real time. This rank therefore evolves day by day, until the reception capacity of the formation is reached. You can get a better idea of where you stand by comparing this rank to your rank on the call list.
NB: After the baccalaureate results, at the request of the student from his file, a committee is responsible for proposing to baccalaureate holders who have not obtained a positive response an assignment in higher education, under the leadership of the rector. This is the CAES (Commission for access to higher education) of the student’s academy, and it provides personalized support.
Whether they were in final year or students in reorientation, the candidates had the choice among some 19,500 training courses recognized by the State (among which many in apprenticeship). Each candidate had to list their maximum 10 wishes (a multiple wish counting as a single wish but consisting of sub-wishes, each corresponding to a separate establishment).
