Many of football’s brightest stars are likely to miss out on the World Cup, which will be played in July-August. At least the national teams of France, Canada and Spain are bubbling.
The Women’s World Cup kicks off in less than five months. In many of the world’s best teams, the situation is downright chaotic.
Over the weekend, the eyes have focused on France, which is ranked fifth in the world rankings. Team captain, Lyon top scorer Wendie Renard announced on Friday that he will not be seen at the summer World Cup.
– I am far from perfect, but I can no longer support the current system, which is far from top-level requirements. Today is a sad day, but I want to protect my sanity. It is with a heavy heart that I announce my decision to withdraw from the French national team, Renard wrote in a message published on social media. (you switch to another service)
According to French RMC Sport, Renard will not be seen in the national team as long as France’s controversial head coach Corinne Diacre is involved in team activities.
Over the years, Diacre has been at odds with numerous national team players. Top guard Sarah Bouhaddi announced in September 2020 that he is out of national team formations as long as Diacre is involved. (you switch to another service)
France’s all-time top scorer Eugenie Le Sommer Diacre publicly ranted at the World Championships 2019. Le Sommer’s Diacre was shelved in spring 2021.

In the summer 2019 World Cup, the same fate had to be experienced by the winner of the goal exchange in the French main league Marie-Antoinette Katotowhich Diacre did not take care of for his team “due to his too young age”.
Katoto, who is recovering from a knee injury suffered at the European Championships, followed the captain this week and announced that he would leave the national team. So did the third star player of the team Kadidiatou Diani.
– I am away from the national team and I am focusing on my club team. I am France’s biggest fan and if the necessary changes are made, I will return to the team, commented Diani.
After the trio’s announcements, the French Football Federation soon announced that it would address the issue at a board meeting at the end of February.
The relationship between Diacre and Renard has been cool before. Diacre stripped Renard of the captain’s armband in 2017, because in his opinion the topper did not play as well in the national team as in his club team. Diacre also announced that the Lyon striker will never wear the captain’s armband during his time.
Diacrea has been harshly criticized, among other things, for his lack of communication skills.
Despite the uproar, the French Football Federation offered Diacre an extension after the European Championships. Diacre led France all the way to the EC semi-finals. In the semi-final, France lost to Germany 1–2.
Canada is bubbling, how are the Spanish stars doing?
The French national team is not the only team playing in the World Cup where there is excitement.
Reigning Olympic champion Canada is also currently arguing with their country’s federation. The team has demanded a better investment in the World Cup from the federation.
The Canadian women’s national team said that the federation forced it to prepare for the World Cup with a smaller number of players and background personnel. The number of camp days has also been reduced.
The team announced that they would go on strike, but the union forced them to play in the She Believes Cup invitational tournament.
The Spanish team, which advanced to the European Championship quarter-finals, is also bubbling.
Fifteen of Spain’s top players have announced they will be unused by the national team until a “situation” affecting their mental state and health is resolved.
The players said they were unhappy with the head coach Jorge Vildan coaching methods and way of coaching.
It was on the list Mapi Leon, Bonmat’s fence and Sandra Panoksen stars like Barcelona, as well as those currently playing in the English Super League Leila Ouahabi and Lucia Carcia. None of the Real Madrid players were among these fifteen players.
The Spanish federation was not much moved by the players’ opinion. They sided with Vilda and demanded that the players apologize for their mistake if they wanted to return to the national team. Vilda, on the other hand, announced that she is not going to resign.
There was no apology from the players, and Vilda left all 15 unnamed in the national team – and none of them have played since September.
Significant absences have hardly been seen in Spain’s results. Spain has lost only one of its seven matches since September, to Australia.
