    If your child plays sports, you probably know that since 2021, the medical certificate of no contraindication to sports practice is no longer compulsory for all activities. But not all. Here is the list of those for which a visit to the doctor will be obligatory, to validate your registration.

    It’s back to school and this period often rhymes with the resumption of an extracurricular sporting activity for children. Since 2021, the certificate of “no contraindication” to sports practice is no longer compulsory for many activities: it has been replaced by a questionnaire for minors, to which parents must respond. But this is not the case for all sports.

    What is the medical certificate replaced by?

    In the vast majority of sports, parents must therefore answer yes or no to a questionnaire of around twenty questions on the state of health of their child and certify on their honor the veracity of their answers.

    If the questionnaire does not contain a positive response, the child will not require a medical certificate, the club relying on the parents’ declaration. On the other hand, for the slightest affirmative response, a medical certificate of no contraindication to sports practice must be attached to the registration file.

    For certain sports, the medical certificate remains compulsory

    In the case of so-called “special constraints” sports, a medical certificate remains mandatory. It is :

    • Mountaineering;
    • Underwater diving;
    • Caving;
    • Parachuting ;
    • Rugby union, XIII or VII;
    • Combat sports practiced in competition and for which the match can end in a knockout. For example, we include boxing, kickboxing, boxing, etc.
    • Sports involving the use of firearms or compressed air weapons, such as shooting, ball-trap, biathlon, among others;
    • Sports practiced competitively which involve the use of vehicles such as motorsport, karting, motorcycling. However, radio-controlled automobile modeling is not included in the list;
    • Aeronautical sports practiced in competition: aerobatics, gliding, free flight… with the exception of aeromodelling.

    Please note, however, that some clubs continue to require the precious pass on a regular basis (every year or every two years, for example). This request may vary, depending on the regulations specific to each sports structure, whether or not it is affiliated with a federation.
