A Valorant pro has spoken out about his emotional situation. The long break that awaits him is bothering him.

Who is it about? Daniel “Rossy” Abedrabbo (21) is an American professional player in Riot Games’ tactical shooter Valorant. The big “Valorant Champions 2024” tournament will start in South Korea on August 1, 2024. This is the annual world championship of the popular e-sports title.

  • Rossy took part in the playoffs and the league routine in the Pacific region with his team “T1”, but was unable to qualify.
  • On June 8, Rossy also announced that he would be leaving T1. It is not yet known which team the 21-year-old will join next and whether he already has offers.
  • Rossy has been a Valorant professional since 2021 and before joining T1 he played for the teams “Immortals”, “TSM”, “FaZe Clan” and “Turle Troop” (via Liquipedia).

    • On X.com, Rossy spoke about the long break that awaits him until he next plays Valorant competitively for a team and explained that this situation is affecting him emotionally.

    “This schedule is really making me depressed”

    Why is he desperate? Rossy is currently forced to take a long break. His now former team failed to qualify for Valorant Champions 2024 and there is no further tournament scheduled for the rest of the year.

    For Rossy, this uncertainty creates a difficult situation. He writes:

    Life is really hard these days. What should I do with my life?

    Yes, I should have won more and all that, but seriously, when am I even going to play again. 4 months, 6 months?

    Rossy himself knows that he could still play a few games in 2024 if he and his team had won more games and qualified for the World Cup. Nevertheless, he is suffering from the long break, which is also due to the schedule, and believes that other players feel the same way:

    I have never felt so pointless in my life. This schedule is really making me depressed, and I wouldn’t doubt that other players feel the same.

    Rossy played his last game for the time being on June 24, 2024 for T1 against Team Secret. It is currently unclear when he will play a match next. Riot Games has not yet released a schedule for 2025. The Valorant Champions Tour 2024 started in February. With a similar schedule, Rossy would have to take another 6 months off.

    What is the problem? In e-sports, there are often long breaks between tournaments or seasons. While professional athletes in football or basketball, for example, are happy to have a few weeks’ break after a long season, the schedule for e-sports athletes is often much more patchy.

    This also makes financial planning difficult for teams. Then they consider: Is it worth paying the salaries of players, coaches and analysts for six months if no matches are played during that time and therefore no prize money or advertising revenue comes in?

    This is also difficult for players like Rossy, who currently have no team and therefore no regular income. The chance of finding a new team is very slim if it is not even known when the next competitions will start. Financial security and planning for the future are not guaranteed. This is also shown by the comments under Rossy’s post. Other players like “BcJ” from M80 or “bang” from 100 Thieves write that they feel the same way and are already looking forward to 2025.

    The final of the World Championship will take place on August 25th. After that, we will know which team will follow Evil Geniuses and be able to call themselves world champions.
