Without any real possibility of victory, in particular on its long-awaited repeal of the pension reform, we wonder what use can be made for the parliamentary niche of the National Rally (RN) which is being held this Thursday, October 31 in the National Assembly?

This enthusiasm was still there until Wednesday, October 30, in the evening. The political trap posed by the repeal of the pension reform finally closed on the RN. The President of the National Assembly deemed it inadmissible, as last year when the independents of the LIOT group proposed it (Article 40 of the constitution according to which a proposed law involving public finances must imperatively be financed or financeable ).
No matter, the text emptied of its main provision is maintained. Proposing reports and funding conferences has at least one merit: providing a platform. The RN deputies are using it to initiate a treachery trial against the left, which is very happy not to have to decide on a proposal from the extreme right that it also defends.

No support from the Macronists and Horizons
Same thing for two others of the seven texts that the RN places in its niche. They are supposed to “trap” the right.
The first aims to restore the minimum penalties introduced under Nicolas Sarkozy. If the Republicans and its 47 deputies do not rule out voting for the text (under conditions), this does not necessarily mean a majority. No one among the Macronists and their allies plans to support an RN text, whatever it may be. Not even Horizons, the party ofÉdouard Philippe who, however, also pleaded for reinstating these minimum sentences. Horizons MPs are proposing a rewrite knowing full well that it has little, if any, chance of succeeding. A failure in the vote, but a new opportunity to point the finger at other groups for the Lepenists.
The second of these “right-wing” texts is based on a relaxation of the expulsion rules for foreign delinquents and criminals. A measure supported by public opinion, even a majority in the Assembly. However, the government offers an unfavorable opinion. The excuse is obvious: the Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleauwill include it in its future immigration law. You are never better served than by yourself. Another opportunity for the RN to cry sectarianism.
So, without real possibilities of victory, what’s the point of doing this niche?
Once again, and despite an unprecedented number of deputies (126), the National Rally encounters an old problem: the glass ceiling. And he finds his usual clothes, that of the ostracized opposition party. In short, the RN will use this niche to loudly denounce its marginalization in front of the cameras and its opponents. Failing to record concrete political victories and gain credibility.
