Which stands for a thunderous blunder just before kick-off.
On Tuesday morning, Sweden and Spain face off in the World Cup semi-finals at Eden Park in Auckland, New Zealand. At stake is a ticket to the coveted WC final that will be decided on Sunday.
Big miss on TV
The match is broadcast in front of millions of television viewers, but on social media there has been a lot of talk about what happened on English television just before the start of the match. When the respected TV channel BBC shows the Swedish starting eleven, it has gone completely wrong in the graphics.
All the names still match on the blue and yellow starting eleven, but their faces cannot be recognized at all… Instead, they have succeeded in a very embarrassing blunder, see the picture below.

Not a single player photo matches as the BBC accidentally placed pictures of English players instead of Swedish ones. Therefore, among other things, we will see Johanna Rytting Kaneryd as Lauren James and the national team goalkeeper Zecira Musovic as Mary Earps.

The fans’ criticism
It then got even worse when even the Spanish starting eleven had received English faces along with their names, see the picture below.

The big miss in the graphics has sparked strong reactions on social media from football fans.
“What is wrong with Sweden!?”, writes a user on X (formerly Twitter).
“BBC, please arrange your coverage of the match. The sound is terrible and if it couldn’t get worse, this is happening… What is going on!?”, writes another user.
