The current scenarios for the 2023 upper limit for the purchase of a disabled vehicle with SCT exemption, which is expected to be announced in a short time, are on the table.
As we slowly come to the end of 2022, some numbers remain in sight for the automotive landscape of 2023. In the scenario where remarkable increases in traffic fines were determined, the 2023 tariff of the motor vehicle tax was announced recently. After the increase rate, which President Erdoğan determined as 61.5 by using his discount authority, another point where eyes are turned is undoubtedly on the side of the disabled vehicle. The 2023 upper limit for the purchase of SCT-exempt disabled vehicles, which has not yet been published in the Official Gazette, will be a little over 1 million TL if President Erdogan does not use his authority to increase it, as in MTV.

Where did the disabled vehicle upper limit come from?
The upper limit, which was 330,800 TL in 2021 and increased to 450 thousand TL by improving 120 thousand TL with the transition to 2022, does not make it possible for this type of users to purchase a qualified vehicle for a long time. The expectation of increasing this value during the year, which includes vehicles in the C SUV segment at the beginning of 2021, and does not even cover some B HB vehicles today, remained unanswered. In the light of the new data announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute, the evaluation framework of the 2023 upper limit for the SCT exempt disabled vehicle has also appeared.

With the actualization of the current scenario and its publication in the Official Gazette, users of this type will be able to purchase vehicles with an engine capacity of not more than 1.6 liters, within the limit of 1 million TL. It is noteworthy that the Inflation Research Group (ENAGrup), which makes measurements outside of TUIK data, highlights inflation as 185 percent in its sources. If the figure pointed out by TÜİK for the SCT limit becomes reality, it may again expose the users to the 2022 scenario, unless a re-evaluation is made within the year. As it is known, the new model year hike is reflected to the cars at a perceptible rate, as it is every year. When we look at the latest examples in the world, we see much more noticeable price increases for new vehicles with the 2023 model year together with the energy and supply crises. There is also the expectation of some non-governmental organizations and associations to increase the new upper limit in this direction to 1.25 million TL.
