In France, liberal doctors continue their mobilization. After several days of strikes in December and January, their unions are again calling for a strike and the closure of their offices on February 14, 2023. Why such great unease? We discuss it with Laurence Théault, journalist in the France service of RFI. She covered the protests and met several doctors.
” Before going to the demonstration, I did not think that the doctors were so angry », begins by telling Laurence Theault in this episode of News cookies. ” The liberal doctors have, for many, the impression of doing their job badly, of having to chain consultations for a basic price of 25 euros “. Laurence also recounts the complex consultations and the increase in administrative burdens that weigh on doctors. We also address the lack of practitioners and the desire for many to turn to more profitable medicine, or even for some to abandon the profession.
On January 19, 2023, the unions of liberal doctors suspended the negotiations with the Health Insurance. These negotiations should make it possible to reach a new agreement which will notably set the rates for practitioners for the next 5 years.
