Are you still unable to get rid of mosquitoes despite numerous attempts? On the internet, certain recipes for natural mosquito repellent products are circulating. They all have one thing in common: the use of toilet paper!

Every summer, it’s the same old story: we impatiently await barbecue and swimming sessions in the sun or lazing around in the shade. But if there’s one thing we dread, it’s mosquitoes and their bites that can literally ruin our nights and evenings, or even our vacations if our vacation spot is located near stagnant water. Lemongrass, coffee grounds, cider vinegar… Have you tried everything to repel these insects, but nothing works? The solution may be found in toilet paper. In any case, it’s the key ingredient in several natural mosquito repellent recipes circulating on social media.

One of them is very simple: it consists of cutting several sheets of toilet paper into small pieces, soaking them in a mixture of essential oils (lavender, lemon eucalyptus and lemongrass), then letting them air dry. Once the small pieces of paper are dry, simply scatter them for a few days in the places where mosquitoes are most likely to intrude, then repeat the experiment as many times as necessary.

On TikTok, the account “Marion tutos astuces” recommends a similar trick, again using toilet paper. This time, it involves making a paste from honey and coffee grounds, then brushing the mixture onto a rolled-up piece of toilet paper, before placing it in a glass bottle lined with cloves and white vinegar. Once the paper is inserted, simply burn the end, then let it slowly burn to keep mosquitoes away, as well as “all kinds of flying insects,” the video promises.

Apart from natural repellents and these “grandmother’s” tips, certain measures remain essential to keep mosquitoes at bay. During sunny days, for example, it is advisable to wear long, light-colored clothes (which reflect less heat than dark colors). You can also plug in a fan (mosquitoes don’t like mixed air) and install mosquito nets on the windows and above the beds. And when you are in a garden, it is recommended to avoid stagnant water as much as possible, taking care to empty all objects likely to fill with water (vase, bowl, pots, watering cans, wheelbarrows). , etc).
