Sylvie Royant-Parola, psychiatrist and sleep specialist, explains the roles of each phase of sleep, and why it is important to respect them.

A subject of study for only a few years, the CBD seems to contain in the form of oil or flower of the therapeutic advantages which would allow the individuals suffering stress and anxiety to take advantage of their effectiveness.

What does this study tell us?

The study, carried out on behalf of RadicleScience, found that 61% of respondents said they had experienced a clinically significant improvement in the quality of their sleep. The soothing virtues of CBD improve relaxation and the regulation of serotonin (which will influence the production of melatonin, also called the sleep hormone).

Poor sleep has negative consequences on health and daily life

A persistent feeling of fatigue, a drop in concentration and alertness, an increased risk of cardiac pathologies or even a dysfunction of the feeling of satiety and appetite… In the long term, sleep disorders have disastrous effects on quality of life and health.

Even if the results of these studies on night rest are still provisional and not very representative on a large scale, the first data remain optimistic for poor sleepers. Whether for sleep disorders or to help relax in times of great stress, CBD can be consumed in different forms:

  • as an oil pipette, just squeeze a few drops under the tongue about an hour before bedtime;
  • the CBD flower can be used in herbal tea or directly in the kitchen (added to cookies, sprinkled on salad or in mashed potatoes…), there is no shortage of creative ideas;
  • in capsule, a regular catch makes it possible to better recover the night and that has notable effects as well physically as psychologically. However, be sure to respect the recommended dosage and adapt it according to your needs.

Remember, however, that CBD is in no way a drug treatment and cannot replace the advice of a professional as to the management of major or symptomatic sleep disorders.
