Xiaomi and Apple often come up with competition in the smartphone market. While Apple rivals Xiaomi with its iPhone models, Xiaomi offers products in different categories with its sub-brands such as Redmi. Lei Jun, founder and CEO of Xiaomi, talked about their rivalry with Apple.

Making his statements via China’s social media platform Weibo, Lei Jun stated that they want to be a complete competitor to Apple’s iPhone in terms of product and experience, and said, “We aim to become the largest high-end brand in China in the next three years.” In the same post, Jun described the competition in the high-end smartphone market as “a battle for life and death.”
Lei Jun also reiterated that Xiaomi intends to invest $15.71 billion in R&D over the next five years.

Xiaomi had previously surpassed both Apple and Samsung in Europe.
