With Taylor Lautner, the third big Twilight name, things are different. For five years he raised him Werewolf Jacob Black come to life on the big screen. Now he doesn’t play a role in Hollywood anymore. Any attempt to establish itself outside of Twilight in the dream factory has more or less come to nothing.

Lautner has become known as a child actor. In 2001, the now 31-year-old was in front of the camera for the first time in the sci-fi action film Shadow of the Dragon. He had his most important appearance in this early career phase four years later as the eponymous shark boy in The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D.

In 2007, Lautner was cast in Twilight. The rest is history – at least until the series finale hit theaters in November 2012. Just like his colleagues, Lautner then tried to to reinvent as an actor. He wasn’t nearly as adventurous as Stewart and Pattinson, however.

Lautner chose two action thrillers for his post-Twilight career and presented from one harder, more mature side. Breathless – Dangerous Truth, which was released in 2011, started things off. Tracers followed in 2015. Lautner was not able to create a strong star profile with either of the two films.

Lautner made guest appearances with Adam Sandler in Grown Ups 2 (2013) and The Ridiculous 6 (2015). He also landed a part in the second season of Scream Queens (2015). Since then, the only notable entry in his filmography has been the Netflix comedy Home Team (2022). But even that received for its publication little attention.

Still, Lautner recently made a small, unexpected comeback when he starred in the music video for Taylor Swift’s song I Can See You showed up. After a decade of forgetting that Taylor Lautner existed, the world took to the internet for a weekend as a fan favorite. But why was the music video such a big deal?
