With their Let’s Plays, Gronkh and Sarazar shaped the early German gaming scene on YouTube. But while Gronkh is now one of the biggest German Twitch streamers, we don’t hear much about his former friend – what is Sarazar doing today?
What was that with Gronkh? Valentin “Sarazar” Rahmel and Erik “Gronkh” Range used to be inseparable: together they produced YouTube videos, hosted “Let’s Play Together” for ProSiebenSat.1 and founded PlayMassive GmbH.
Between 2017 and 2018 there was apparently a break between the two. Gronkh left PlayMassive GmbH. However, in a post from March 2023, Sarazar emphasized that there was no argument and that they did not wish anything bad for each other. Everyone leads their own life, explained Sarazar (via X).
But what happened next for Gronkh’s former “superhomie” and what is he doing today?

Here’s how things went for Sarazar without Gronkh: Sarazar had already become increasingly broadly positioned in recent years. He outsourced his gaming content to Twitch. Let’s Plays were still published on YouTube, but these consisted of compilations of the streams.
Sarazar also published travel videos and devoted himself to other projects such as music. However, his Twitch presence became increasingly irregular. In 2022 only a few streams took place. The last game Sarazar showed on Twitch was the survival game Icarus (via TwitchTracker).
It also became quiet on his YouTube channel. In 2023, Sarazar then released a series of videos for the Hogwarts Legacy role-playing game, which is based on Harry Potter. The first video received an impressive 335,000 views, later ones garnered tens of thousands more.
The time of Let’s Plays with Gronkh is long gone
And today? Today Sarazar is managing director of White Mandala GmbH, which emerged from PlayMassive. The company specializes in video production and marketing. He continues to make travel documentaries for public broadcasting: the series “Roadtrip with Sarazar” can be found on YouTube or in the ARD media library.
With Aerochrone, the content creator has a music label that acts as a promoter and publisher for electronic music, hosts events and, according to the Aerochrone website, “connects influencers with brands and events.”
Sarazar also plays at festivals such as Parookaville and Lollapalooza and produces music such as his current track RED (via X.com).
Seven months ago, Sarazar published a video on YouTube in which he reflected on the past few years. In it he talks about his travels, his experiences and his meetings with Hollywood stars like Brad Pitt and Tom Holland.
He also explains that he edits the travel documentaries himself, which takes a lot of time. With all of this, there isn’t much time left for gaming. Nevertheless, there have been two Let’s Plays on Sarazar’s channel in the last few months: for the survival games Rust and DayZ.
So it seems as if Sarazar is still staying true to his roots, even if there will probably be no more gaming sessions with Gronkh.
