Of religious origin and movable date, Whit Monday holiday falls on the Monday following the 7th Sunday after Easter Sunday. It is located between May 10 and June 13.
Pentecost, which celebrates the descent of Holy Spirit among the Apostles, is celebrated for two days: Pentecost Sunday and the following Monday, officially declared a public holiday in France by the law of March 8, 1886. In 2004, the government of Prime Minister Raffarin decided to make Monday Pentecost a day of solidarity with the elderly following the heat wave of 2003. However, the law of April 16, 2008 makes this day of solidarity mobile. Today, this holiday can be non-working day depending on the choice of the company.
