Indeed, Shazam is inspired by a comic book superhero, who first appeared in 1940. But until 2011, he was nicknamed Captain Marvel, not to be confused with the heroine played in the movies. The superhero Shazam was renamed to make a specific acronym: that of the Gods of mythology who gave him his powers. Solomon (“S”) gave him his wisdom and intelligence; Hercules (“H”) his strength; Atlas (“A”) its unfailing endurance; Zeus (“Z”) the power to summon lightning; Achilles (“A”) his courage and Mercury (“M”) his superhuman speed, but also his ability to fly. A devilishly effective nickname to measure the extent of his power!
Synopsis – Young Billy Batson meets a strange wizard. This will give him powers that he will discover as the film progresses. Particularity of size: these powers are triggered only when he shouts the name “Shazam”. Once this is done, Billy turns into a muscular man (Zachary Levi therefore) and endowed with superpowers.
