An apartment from a building on Boulevard Henri-Sappia, in Nice, caught fire on Saturday from Saturday, February 8 to Sunday, February 9. A little girl died and five people were slightly injured.

Four people came out unscathed from the building. The fire is now completely extinguished.

An investigation is open

“The origin of the fire is in the indefinite state”, “an investigation entrusted to the SLPJ (Local Judicial Police Service) is open in search of the causes of death,” rushed the Nice prosecutor’s office.

For the moment, we know that the child was alone in the apartment at the time of the drama, according to information from RTL. His mother was with a neighbor and her father at the bottom of the building.

On social networks, reactions flock to say the sadness of this loss. Christian Estrosi, the mayor of Nice, published a message on X: “All my thoughts accompany the family of the 3-year-old girl tragically died that night in the fire of an apartment on Boulevard Henri-Sappia”. His first deputy, Anthony Borré also deplored a “terrible drama”. This is also the case of Eric Ciotti, deputy for the Alpes Maritimes, who shares his “immense sadness” and his “emotional and more sincere condolences”.
